Quirky pavilion.
Thoughtful use of a complex garden.
Creating warmth, coziness and in general an ambiance in such a particular large garden requires a thoughtful use of colors and materials. After all, the different terraces are visible from everywhere. We still created some serenity by using beautiful warm tones such as khaki, rust, terracotta and caramel.
A true classic is the Carlotta lounge chair, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for the Italian company Cassina. Yet that classic was given a twist. La Patronne, the partner of 't Huis Van Oordeghem who creates custom textiles, revived the original, slightly thicker vintage models of this Carlotta.
A large garden with many trees and ponds also requires a clear link to nature in its furnishings. That link is made by the organic dining table, the wood and the soft tones at the dining table. Cushions were also custom-made for these chairs.
In this beautiful garden, attention is drawn to a very special object: a remnant of The Berlin Wall. Both sides of the artwork have a fascinating drawing and the job of 't Huis Van Oordeghem is to give such works the chance to speak. So no striking colors and shapes in this project, but natural, soft shapes that blend perfectly with the water and the garden.
